Are you looking forward to buying the 2020 Toyota Highlander? The current Toyota Highlander entered the market with a bit longer body and a more aggressive style. Since then, things have been quiet besides some tweaks here and there.
What about the next generation Highlander? Well, we can expect the same thing applies to the 2019 model. Below, we will tell you about the soon-to-be-released car’s exterior, interior, engine, safety, release date, and price.
2020 Toyota Highlander Redesign exterior & Interior
If we talk about 2020 Toyota Highlander changes, there are some but none of them are significant or drastic. However, you can expect the new Highlander to have a modern look. Don’t expect any significant or drastic changes albeit there will be more color options and possible wheel configurations.
As for the change in the interior, we can expect it to be subtle. For instance, new upholstery materials and colors improved infotainment hardware or additional sound-reducing materials. It is possible that the new SUV will be compatible with Apple CarPlay although this is not yet confirmed.
Engine Specs & Hybrid Option
Unfortunately, change is not expected under the hood. The next generation Highlander most likely will have the same engines and transmissions as the current generation.
The base engine will be a 2.7-liter, 4-cylinder engine capable of producing 185 horsepower with 187 lb-ft of torque. The midrange engine will be a 3.5-liter, V6 engine producing 295 horsepower with 263 lb-ft torque. The high-range engine will be a hybrid one. The 2020 Toyota Highlander hybrid will have a 3.5-liter, V6 engine combined with an electric motor. The hybrid engine will be capable of generating 306 horsepower.
If the engines are the same, the transmissions are likely to be the same as well. If this is true, then the new Highlander will have 6-speed (for the 4-cylinder engine) and 8-speed (for the V6 engine) gearbox.
Safety is where most of Toyota vehicles excel in. Yes, the Fresh Toyota Highlander will not be an exception. We can see it from the current model. The current model aced all of IIHS crash tests, came with various safety features that make it Top Safety Pick+.
The standard safety equipment in Toyota Highlander includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic high beams and lane-keep assist. We can expect the same from the new Highlander.
2020 Toyota Highlander Release Date and Price
The New Toyota Highlander release date has yet to be declared. While there is no exact date on when the car will be released, it is said to be released in the second half of this year. The price has yet to be declared as well. But it is likely to be in the range of $32,000 and $49,000.
To sum it up, the 2020 Toyota Highlander will be a mid-sized SUV with some small but neither significant nor drastic updates, only some tweaks here and there. While this may be true, its cabin will be better equipped and as its current generation has, there will be a hybrid engine option as well. It will probably have the same safety features as the current model, which is great.
