2020 Chevy Suburban; Redesign, Specs, Release Date & More
The Suburban is one of the most iconic vehicles made by Chevrolet. In fact, the Suburban lineup has been present for over eight decades. The first Suburban came in the 1930’s while the current Suburban came in 2013. Soon, we are going to see the 11th generation, the 2020 Chevy Suburban. Are you interested in the upcoming Suburban? If you are, read on. We will tell you what we know so far about it.
2020 Chevy Suburban Redesign
We are not likely to see 2020 Suburban redesign, at least not in a drastic way. The upcoming Suburban will continue to use the GMT K2 platform, making it share the same mechanical characteristics as the Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon XL.
According to 2020 Chevrolet Suburban concept, we are going to see the same base design. While we don’t expect drastic changes in styling, we may see new exterior color options. This applies to the interior as well. Again, change isn’t likely but there may be new color schemes. In other words, the cabin will remain largely the same.
Powertrain & Transmission
The powertrain of the upcoming Suburban is likely to be the same as its predecessor. The standard engine will be a 5.3-liter V8 engine capable of producing up to 335 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. This engine is usually available in 6-speed automatic transmission, but some reports suggest that the new Suburban will have 10-speed automatic transmission.
With 335 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, it will not be surprising if the new Suburban can move very quickly. We expect it to reach 60 mph in 7.2 seconds. The braking from 60 to 0 will be around 131 ft. As for fuel economy, it is 22 mpg on a highway and 15 mpg in the city.
The standard features of the upcoming Suburban are likely to be the same as the current one. It seems that the biggest novelty the upcoming Suburban will have is the brand new MyLink infotainment system. The standard features are 18-inch alloy wheels, a leather-covered steering wheel, automatic climate control, 8-inch touchscreen display, smartphone integration, Bluetooth, satellite radio and 6-speaker audio system.
There will be several trim options available, each comes with different features. For instance, the Premier trim will have 20-inch wheels, Magnetic Ride Control suspension, xenon headlights, a navigation system, ventilated front seats, wireless charging pad, power-adjustable front seats and 10-speaker audio system.
2020 Chevy Suburban Release Date and Price
While there is no official announcement yet, the next generation Chevy Suburban should enter the market in the second half of this year. As for the price, we expect it to be in a similar range as the current model. That is, around $51,000 for the base model and up to $70,000 for the best-equipped one.
That’s what we know about the 2020 Chevy Suburban for the moment. The upcoming Suburban is probably going to be very similar to the current model. There will be no drastic changes outside and inside. Of course, there will be some updates and upgrades especially for the novelties, but we are likely to see similar styling for exterior and interior and engines.
