2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 Redesign; Specs & Release Date
The 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 is going to enter the market with a new masculine look, fresh engine technology as well as a diesel engine option. The forthcoming Silverado does not use aluminum construction just like the Ford F-150.
Instead, it uses a steel construction. And yet, due to excellent engineering, it loses a lot of weight, which is about 450 pounds. With all of its competitors entering the market, the 2020 Silverado need some improvements. Here are some examples.
2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 Redesign; Bigger Everything
That’s right. The upcoming Silverado is bigger than its predecessor. Its wheelbase is about 3.9 inches longer, while the overall length is 1.6 inches longer than the current model. Interestingly enough, while it is bigger, it is lighter, too.
And speaking of 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 interior, since the upcoming Silverado is bigger, there is more room inside. For instance, its legroom is 43.8 inches, which is almost 3 inches increase from the current model. Not only that, you also can find storage space underneath the rear seat bottoms and two large storage bins as well.
As for New Chevy Silverado 1500 engines, there will be six different engine combinations. Two of these are new gasoline V8 engines. These 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter engines are said to be more efficient thanks to the Dynamic Fuel Management system.
Among those six, another engine available is the 3.0-liter, inline-six turbocharged diesel engine. That’s right, there will be 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 diesel available. Unfortunately, further details such as the engines’ output, torque or fuel economy are not yet released.
Lots of Trims
For the upcoming 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500, there will be 8 trim levels. They are High Country, LTZ, RST, LT Trailboss, LT, Custom Trailboss, Custom, and Base.
The base Silverado will come with features such as black exterior, cloth or vinyl seating, 17-inch steel wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen display for the infotainments system and a grille with throwback design (that is, “CHEVROLET” block lettering).
- Custom and Custom Trailboss
These trims will come with LED taillights, 20-inch aluminum wheel, and body-color exterior. For the Custom Trailboss, there will be additionals like a 2.0-inch lift, 18-inch wheels covered in DuraTrac tires, skid plates and locking rear differential.
- LT and LT Trailboss
Both the LT and LT Trailboss sports chrome exterior, 8-inch display, LED taillights and Chevrolet’s badge. For the LT Trailboss, it is going to have off-the-road-ready equipment as well as LT’s features.
This trim is planned to have LED exterior lighting, 22-inch wheels, and additional visual pop. Many expect the RST to have a big power output, but so far, we don’t know it yet.
- LTZ and High Country
The LTZ trim will get standard luxury as well as convenience items like power-folding exterior mirrors and leather seats. As for the High Country, there will be a standard power tailgate and two-tone grille running boards made of chrome.
2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 Release Date and Price
Seeing the improvements it is going to have, we expect it to be able to compete well enough against all of its rivals. What is unfortunate, however, is the fact that for the moment there is no information about the exact new Chevy Silverado 1500 release date. We don’t know when it will be released, but we are going to see it this year.
