2019 Dodge Barracuda Redesign and Changes

2019 Dodge Barracuda Redesign and Changes

Looking for a new muscle car? Well, take a look at the soon-to-be-released 2019 Dodge Barracuda. It is planned to be a lighter but more powerful muscle car. Yes, even more, powerful than its predecessor, the Dodge Challenger. Here, we will talk about its design, performance, price, and release date.

2019 Dodge Barracuda Redesign

The new Dodge Barracuda is the successor of Dodge Challenger. The Barracuda is planned to be more powerful yet lighter. In fact, it will be based on Giorgio Alfa platform. The Barracuda’s rear wheel drive chassis will be all aluminum, which is why it will be stiffer and lighter than the Challenger.

As a comparison, Alfa’s Giorgio weight around 3,000 lbs which is 1,400 lbs less than the Challenger. As such, even if the Barracuda has heavier engines, sturdier suspension, and other features, it is likely to weigh more than 3,500 lbs.

If the above is true, the 2019 Dodge Barracuda could be one of the best cars to drive on the market. This will likely to happen since it will be based on Giorgio platform, which has one of the best chassis.

Exterior Changes

Most people think that the Barracuda will look very different than the Challenger. Not only that, the Barracuda is rumored to have a typical GT-look. That is a short rear end and a long hood. This is possible. However, we think it is more likely that the Barracuda will have a similar look to the Challenger, knowing how successful it is.

Interior Update

While the 2019 Dodge Barracuda is planned to be smaller, it doesn’t mean that it will reduce the comfort level for the passenger. Due to its new platform, the Barracuda will be more than good enough to accommodate 4 passengers in comfort. Its front seats will likely to be mounted lower than the Challenger’s. This allows the Barracuda to free up some space for the trunk, making it as usable as before.

2019 Dodge Barracuda Performance

Rumor has it that the Barracuda will come with a turbocharged engine, even for its base trim. You can expect the base trim to have an engine such as 2-liter, turbo-4 capable of generating 270 horsepower with 280 lb-ft torque.

There is also a likelihood of the Barracuda to come with a high-performance engine in for the SRT version. If this is true, then it will be able to read up to 500 horsepower with more than 500 lb-ft torque with a 3.8-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine.

While we don’t know about the detail yet, a hybrid model capable of generating 800 horsepower might also be offered. After all, this is the same strategy that is used previously to save the Charger and Challenger from being discontinued.

2019 Dodge Barracuda Price and Release Date

The 2019 Dodge Barracuda price is not yet revealed. That being said, with all things considered, you can expect the price can be as low as $28,000 and as high as $70,000, depending on the version. The Dodge Barracuda release date is not yet revealed, either. But, it is expected to be released in sometime in this year.

If the rumors about it are true, the 2019 Dodge Barracuda can be one of the best cars to drive. After all, it will have a powerful engine, good design, great rear wheel drive chassis and comfortable interior. What do you think?
